Library May Programs for Children & Adults

Visit the Ponca City Library from the first of May through the end of November to write a letter to Deployed Troops, Veterans, New Recruits, or the local first Responders (police, ambulance, firefighters). The library will provide post cards, various types of paper and send letters to Operation Gratitude and the local organizations.

 

Wednesday, May 3rd: Story time and Craft at 11:00 am. Recommended ages 0–6 will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the Children’s Librarian followed by a unique craft. If you have any questions regarding story time please call the library at 767-0345.

 

Thursday, May 4th: Origami 101 at 3:00 pm in the library program room. This is a come and go event for the entire family to enjoy. All materials will be provided at this FREE event.

 

Tuesday, May 9th: Sewing Circle 2:00–4:00 pm, or 6:00–8:00 pm at the Ponca City Library Program Room. Learn to crochet at this free even! There will be 10-12 patron availability. Please pre-register at the reference desk, call 767-0345 or email the library at library@poncacityok.gov. Must be 16 or older to register!

Costumes are not required, but do make the event more fun. Please be sure to call the library and register at 767-0345 or visit the library at 515 E. Grand Ave.

 

Friday, May 12th: Knight of Murder Mystery Party at 5:00 pm (18 ) Registrants will be mailed a character information card 2-3 weeks before the party so costumes can be prepared upon pre-registered patrons. Monday, May 15th: Adult Book Club at 4:00 pm. Join other readers for a discussion about the book And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie at the Ponca City Library Board Room. For registration you can sign up at the reference desk or call the reference desk at 767-0345. There are a limited amount of books available that can be picked up at the reference desk.

Saturday, May 20th: Annual Touch-A-Truck Event at 11:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the parking lot behind the library. Looking for something to do with the entire family on Saturday? Kids can explore the many vehicles that help our community to make it a better world. Also, the local fire department will be giving away free smoke detectors and this year we are taking early registration sign-ups for the Summer Reading Program. The Batman mobile will also be at the Touch-A-Truck this year. Parents can join the fun too!

Wednesday, May 24th: Brick Builders at 3:30 pm 4:30 pm. Children can use their imaginations to build with Legos.

 

Friday, May 26th: Movie showing of James and the Giant Peach at 1:00 pm. There will be light refreshments to enjoy during the movie.

 

Wednesday, May 31st: Summer Reading Program Story time and Craft Begin at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm. “Climbing up with ABC, 123.” Recommended ages 0–6 will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the Children’s Librarian followed by a unique craft.
