Library January Programs for Children and Adults

All the programs below take place at the Ponca City Library at 515 E. Grand Ave. 74601

ADULT WINTER READ

Ages 18+

Receive a FREE Book bag and instant prizes just for Reading!

Each patron who signs up will only get 1 bag per initial sign up! Participants may enter to win more than once but must fill out a card each time. Only 1 participation prize per person will be given. To qualify to be entered to win you must read 6 books per card, and the card needs to be filled out completely front and back! Most importantly enjoy a great book and have fun!

All Winter Read Cards must be turned in by February 28  to be entered in to win the grand prize!

Winner of Grand Prize will be announced March 1.


Wednesday, January 3

Story time and Craft

11:00-12:00 pm

Recommended ages 0–6 will enjoy a fun singing exercise and then embark on an enchanting storybook read by the Children’s Librarian followed by a unique craft.

 

Thursday, January 4  

Origami: Lily, Buttonhole Flower, Kusudama Flower

3:00-5:30 pm

Suitable for ages 8 and older unless children are accompanied by a guardian

This is a FREE come and go program. Self-guided origami and materials will be provided. Please be aware that some of the instructions might be hard to follow for younger participants. Patrons who participate will be guided by 2 library staff instructors.


Friday, January 5

Lapsit Story time

Pre-registration event: See above for how to register

11:00-11:30 am

Lapsit Storytime is geared towards toddlers under the age of 2 to help with early literacy skills. Toddlers and their parents or guardians will have fun singing songs, sensory bins, and discovering new books.


Tuesday, January 9

English Conversation Circle: Entertainment (books, movies, shows, etc.)

7:00-8:00 pm

Practice your English conversational skills with other English learners at the library. Discussions will be facilitated by the Ponca City Library Staff!


Tuesday, January 9 and 16 (2-week series program)

Learn to Code with Scratch

Pre-registration event: See above for how to register

3:00-5:00 pm

Library Computer Center Lab

Recommended for ages 8-16

The Children’s Librarian will direct registered patrons in learning a simple program language to build up a code to direct an avatar to do certain tasks or tell a story. This free program is limited to 10 participants due to the availability of computers in the computer center.

DIY Sugar Scrub & Bath Salts

You deserve a relaxing break! Teens and adults please join the Ponca City Library for some DIY homemade spa treatments. Space is limited to this program, so be sure to register as soon as possible. All material will be provided through the Friends of the Ponca City Library.

Children can use their imagination and creativity to build something using toy blocks of all shapes and sizes.

Book Club: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

4:00-5:00 pm

Library Board Room

This book club is recommended for ages 16 and older. There is a limited amount of books available that can be picked up at the reference desk. Light refreshments will be served.
