Community & Volunteer Involvement
Chaplain Program
The Chaplain Program is made up of ministers from our community who have volunteered to assist the Police Department in crisis intervention. These ministers many times ride along with the officers and have formulated a schedule to make themselves available for call-out in a variety of difficult situations including the delivery of death notifications or providing comforting words following a tragedy.

Extra Eyes
Extra Eyes is a team of over 20 Citizen's Police Academy alumni who have chosen to take a considerable amount of extra training in order to do the volunteer work that they love to do — voluntarily assisting the officers and staff in many areas of police work. Extra Eyes, working under the supervision of uniformed police officers, provide help that enables our officers to get back to the jobs on the street more quickly, making them more efficient and saving the taxpayers' money!

Police Foundation Trust
The Ponca City Police Foundation Trust was organized in 2000 to financially supplement and benefit the entire community and to help keep Ponca City safe and secure. The Ponca City Police Department was the first within the state to have dedicated citizens develop a Police Foundation on the department’s behalf. The following are a few of the foundation’s goals:
  • Assist with special equipment needs that are outside the normal department budget
  • Provide a financial death benefit to families of active members of the Police Department who pass away
  • Provide scholarship opportunities for Ponca City Police Officers
  • Provide scholarship opportunities for Ponca City youth interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement
  • Support advanced law enforcement training opportunities
  • Support community police training for members of the community as well as paid members of the Police Department
  • Support the Citizens Police Academy and related alumni events
  • Support the Youth Police Academy

In addition to the Department’s on-the-job training, the Police Foundation provides scholarships for officers who attend college and maintain a high grade average.
